Theodor Kundt immigrated to America in 1872 at the age of twenty.  He settled in Cleveland, OH and created a manufacturing empire which, at it's peak, was Cleveland's largest employer.

The Theodor Kundtz Company made cabinets for sewing machines and employed many people from his home town of Metzenseifen.  In 1904, over 92 percent of his workforce was "Hungarian".  Theodor often paid the moving expenses to bring his workers from Metzenseifen.  Cleveland had the largest concentration of Metzenseifeners in America.
