He appeared in the 1930 census on 11 Apr 1930 in Penn Township, Allegheny, PA. 5

He appeared in the 1940 census on 2 Apr 1940 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. 6

He served in the Army from Sep 1944 to Nov 1946. 1 Larry had previously tried to enlist at age 17 in the Marine Corps but his mother refused permission. When he turned 18, he joined the paratroopers. He completed basic training at Camp Blanding in Florida and Airborne school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division and would have taken part in the invasion of Japan but for the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. His regiment was sent to Japan for occupation duty and traveled through Hiroshima on their way to Morioka where they were stationed.



Lawrence married Ruth Louise WEISS, daughter of Leonard John WEISS and Laura Gertrude ZOERB.
